DESCRIPTION:This is just for those of you who haven’t tried croquet before or who’ve just played in gardens. \nWe’ll set up championship quality equipment (flat lawns\, hoops\, mallets and balls) for you and teach you how to play the relatively simple game of Golf Croquet and then let you loose to play… \nAll you need to do is wear trainers or similar footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather – as an outdoor sport you need to be prepared for the British climate! \nPlay can be competitive or social with a group of you or just come on your own and we’ll find you partners/opponents. \nSupervision will be available but we reckon you’ll probably not need very much. \nTwo hours of guaranteed pleasure for just £10\, including a booking fee. \nIf you’re under 17 the charge is just £5\, but you need to bring a parent or responsible adult as we’re not registered with the Safeguarding authorities. \nBook and pay through Eventbrite \nThis is one of several dates/times for Pay & Plays\, so please contact us  if these don’t suit you\, as we may be able to accommodate you by an additional session  (preferably a group).

DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your nominations for the 2021 charity. We had lots! Those that picked up more than one vote were: Breast Cancer Campaign (2)\, Macmillan Nurses (again\, since we raised less than we had hoped this year; 2)\, Parkinsons UK (3) and British Heart Foundation (>6). So BHF (www.bhf.org.uk) becomes the 2021 charity. It does a great job in providing information and support on all heart disease related matters. The house colour of the charity is\, appropriately\, red and all players in heats and the final are encouraged to wear something red. \nThe structure of this year’s competition remains much the same – organise your club heats however you wish – and we continue to encourage GC players to try out this easier AC variant. Over the years\, many get to the final and sometimes they win. \nWe have to be careful to preserve the ability of our chosen charities to claim Gift Aid on our donations. So please be clear to those entering your heat that we are seeking a donation\, and suggest at least £5 per head. I know that many heat organisers achieve a rather higher figure and additionally supplement this by raffles and other fund-raising. The average per head of players in heats in 2019 was over £11 and in 2020 over £17\, though the latter was bolstered by some clubs generously making donations even though their not heat was held.

Last year we had 588 participants in 44 heats and raised a massive £6870 (including Gift Aid) for the Alzheimer’s Society. Well done!
