Jon Diamond beat Duncan Cox 7-4, 7-5 today in the Hunter Plate on a damp lawn 2 that was a little slow, despite the sun. (Lawn 3 has been attacked by badgers…)

The restriction on jump shots changed the dynamic quite a bit, with many more attempts to nestle the balls in the hoops, but still Jon’s long distance clearing ensured that he won despite quite a number of excellent long hoops by Duncan.

The final straw was Jon’s running hoop 11 and ending up in the jaws of hoop 12. In this case the jump shot prohibition probably wouldn’t have made much difference as it would have taken a special 12 yard jump shot by Duncan to avoid losing!
