SECF R league v Compton – lost 2:5

The day was fine and warm and we soon found the lawns were fast. As heat increased during the day so the lawns became ever faster!

Kate Sander and Jeff Chapman adapted to this in the afternoon and won their singles matches, whereas John Moore and Michael Sander did not adapt sufficiently.

Play was level and each of the Compton players had a lower handicap than the Tunbridge Wells players against whom they played.

Nevertheless it was an enjoyable day and Compton provided a very nice lunch and afternoon tea.
