A league loss to Sussex County 2-5

A nice day for a trip to the (almost) coast – not too sunny and warm given the rest of our summer!

Surprisingly we found the lawns to be very green and lush, but with some unexpected dry spots – so somewhat bumpier than we initially expected and almost as slow as our own lawns usually are…

So, we should have been at home, but our opponent’s were obviously even more so.

The morning wasn’t too bad with the Singles being shared and the Doubles very close: Jon pegged out Chris’s ball, but unfortunately Alex made a couple of errors right at the end when we had an almost won position. John’s win was even closer, again in a pegged-out ending, so 2-1 down going into lunch.

After an excellent lunch we needed to win 3 of the 4 singles, but were nowhere near being able to do that, with none of the games being close. John had the only win in the afternoon – a good day for him! So an early bath after a season with one win (better than last year at least) and looking forward to an even better next season…
