Narrow defeat at home to Canterbury

We suffered a loss at home to Canterbury in the Croquet South-East Golf Croquet Handicap league on Monday 5 August.

Pairs of Kate Sander with Denis Cruse and Trevor Houghton-Berry with Robert Hassell both recorded losses in the opening round. Three defeats followed in the singles, in round 2, with only Denis recording a win, meaning Canterbury had an unassailable lead at the lunch break.

Fortified by an excellent lunch prepared by Kate, we rallied in the afternoon, with Denis and Trevor both winning their singles matches, in round 3, while Kate and Robert won their doubles at the golden hoop. These results restored some pride, despite a 5-4 defeat overall.
