Ged Smolskas wins Honeygrove Cup
The Honeygrove Cup this year was won by a first timer Ged Smolskas all the way from Lithuania, via Bury Croquet Club. He managed to win 4 games, but won by dint of his beating the runner-up Jordan Waters (also a first timer). Another foreigner was Matt Smith from Denver, who’s been staying locally for the summer and practising his croquet.
The speed of the lawns was a bit disappointing, following the downpour on Thursday, but still almost as fast as they ever has been in TW and they were gloriously flat.
Too many games went to time to allow more than the scheduled 5 games to be played.
Finally, it was disappointing that the TW players finished bottom, although their handicaps were the lowest…
